Developmental Trauma — Определение термина

Sebern Fisher, 2022:

  • Developmental trauma is not a disorder nor is it a pile-up of other disorders.
  • It represents a history of 'bad enough' care-taking, i.e. neglect and abuse of this person in childhood.
  • If it's not the parents who have harmed the child, it is the parents who have opened the door in some way for it.
  • Emerging neuroscience is illuminating the effects on the brain.
  • These impacts show up as major difficulties in affect-regulation, behavior, mood, sleeping, eating, bowel function, learning, judgment and even immune system.
  • And in the very capacity to sustain a sense of self and other.
  • A survival related disorder with ambient fear activation and widespread disorganization.
  • Our job with neurofeedback is to help this brain learn it's own capacity for self-regulation and self-organization. (The patient cannot regulate her/himself without organizing her/his brain.)
