I train a lot of Asperger's kids at T4 or T4-P4 for emotional/social issues, usually rewarding about 9-12 Hz and inhibiting 2-7 Hz and the whole high beta range. I adjust the reward frequency based on response. I also sometimes add C4-Fz or C4-F4 in the second channel for the obsessive/compulsive issues.
Most Asperger's kids do about 60+ sessions, but you should see some good results in the first 5-10 sessions.Carolyn
Do you use the same rewards and inhibits for C4-Fz, and C4-F4 as you do with T4 and T4-P4? I am glad you responded to this topic.Mark
The inhibits are the same, but I've been making the reward frequency about 2 Hz higher up front. For example, one 10 y.o. boy was doing very well at T4-P4 with a 7-10 Hz reward. His previously uncontrolled rages ceased altogether, but he was still obsessive. I rewarded C4-Fz at 9-12 Hz on the second channel at the same time and the obsessions were largely gone after two sessions and completely gone after several more.

If I was doing neurofeedback on someone with ASD and couldn’t get an assessment done I would start with single channel training at the right temporal lobe. T4/A2 inhibiting maybe 2-6 Hz and 22-38 Hz and rewarding 9-12 Hz, but decreasing the reward frequency by 1 Hz each session until you reach that nice calming effect … down to as low as about 6-9 Hz if necessary. For kids who are really over the top I have sometimes inhibited 2-6 Hz and 10-38 Hz and rewarded 6-9 Hz to good effect. Most kids with autism have anxiety, but if symptoms are more physical, you could try C4/A2 instead. However, I often find T4 to be a great starting point, or even T4/P4.
